Frontal
All floggers (food + bloggers) and food lovers alike should come to the new and already mushrooming food paradise in the Aman Suria + Sunway Mas Commercial Centre area. Outlets ranging from the famous ‘Lou Wong’ Ipoh taugeh chicken and Original Kayu Nasi Kandar have established themselves in this booming business area. There are also tons of coffeeshops, two of which carry the ‘Ipoh White Coffee’ tagline are doing pretty decent during lunch and breakfast hours. Amidst the massive choice of eateries in that area is the distinctive and refreshing genre of cuisine, My Kitchen Restaurant.
tofu
My Kitchen serves mainly Malacca Hainanese food, which immediately to some will conjure up the very famous chicken rice balls as well as its smooth as silk steamed chicken with sweet and sour chilli sauce. Yes, they do serve these items however there are tons of other choices which will certainly makes you want to order every single item on the menu. The special deep fried egg tofu in sweet and sour sauce is a must try for starters as it certainly tasted refreshingly tangy and sweet at the same time.
rice balls
the main stuff that patrons order during lunch hours is the chicken rice balls. Please note that the rice balls are only served during lunch hours, however you can call the shop to order for it earlier should you want to get it during dinner time. The final verdict: its kind of average because it’s not as fragrant and oily as the one I have tried in Chung Wah, Malacca.
chicken
What’s chicken rice balls without its chicken? The steamed chicken actually tasted as good as the photo but no better than the ones in Malacca still. However when the cravings kick in, you have a better alternative instead of driving 2 hours to Malacca to satisfy it.
omelette
This is the Cincalok Fried Omelette. With a squeeze of lime and accompanied with freshly chopped coriander and spring onions, its difficult to explain the mixture of flavours versus the salty cincalok (alt: cencaluk in malay). That is what made the plain looking omelette gorgeous. You can also opt for the famous ‘Muar Otak-Otak’ version of omelette which I have not have the opportunity to try out. As the sign board suggested, you can opt of their special Hainanese Mutton soup, which is quite nice as I had it before during dinner time, however the smallest serving goes for RM9, which is quite expensive. The interior is the usual white marble table top and kopitiam feel and the environment is well kept and clean, which are plus points for visitors to come again. Definitely a hidden gem in the SunwayMas Commercial area. For those who are unfamiliar with this area, you can actually take a left turn after the St. Ignatius Church on the LDP highway, a left turn over the mini roundabout and go straight to find the Aman Suria area. The shop is located further inside the Sunway Mas Commercial Centre which is behind Aman Suria. Opens during lunch and dinner hours. The bill amounted to RM53.80, which is quite reasonable for five persons.
